Solas Art Gallery in Ballinamore brings in the spring with two new exhibitions; “Forgotten Homes and Hinterlands” by Orlagh Murphy and “Residuum” by Joan Murray. These two artists come from a wide distance apart, Orlagh from Belturbet and Joan from Gortahork, Co. Donegal. Joan(left)& Orlagh(right)are photographed here by myself with local artist Louis McLoughlin who opened the exhibtion with his usual wit & charm.

The Solas Art Gallery Exhibition recognises & supports emerging artists. The exhibition “ FOUR” continues till 16th April. The member artists chosen for this years’ show are Isabella Bazzani, Blacklion, Co. Cavan (mixed media artist); photographer Jim Richard, Shercock, Co. Cavan; sculpturist Stephen Costello, Cloonfad, Co. Roscommon & oil painter Molly Richardson, of Newtowngore, Co. Leitrim. This exhibition is an interesting mix of four completely different types of art: sculpture; photography; paintings in oil and watercolour. Opened by Jennifer Richardson, accompanied by artist Sandra Vernon.

Best wishes to Rebecca & Gerry who recently received their life lasting photographic Wedding Day Memories. This 50 paged leather bound Wedding Album with arcylic photographic cover is filled with a beautiful combination of more spontaneous than formal imagery, within exclusive story pages & whole page imagery. Many thanks to my brother Graham (my assistant photographer) for his supportive presence to all & coinciding keen eye for behind the scene imagery, close up portraiture & design input. Satisfying teamwork.

FIRST SOLO EXHIBTION AT SOLAS ART GALLERY, BALLINAMORE, CO. LEITRIM FOR 2013.
Come and check out this latest exhibition by artist Karen O'Dowd. This current body of work explores the interwoven network between memory and landscape. Since the beginnings of time humans have had a powerful connection with landscape and place. In Karens statement she says “my imagery could be described as moody and shifting, layers overlap layers, threads and networks of thought attempt to reflect the internal workings of our mental landscapes and the manner in which we mirror them externally”.

Artist Mary Wilson (left) & artist Joan Walsh (right) jointly exhibit oil on canvases, handmade monoprints & ink pencil drawings of local areas. Claire/Obscur by artist Celia Richard opened at the Solas gallery in Ballinamore recently. Subtitled “ a journey into emotional balance”. This ia a true record of one woman's journey from trauma to emotional wellbeing told through a series of artworks in different media. Many of the pieces and their background stories would hold a relevance for many, just from everyday experiences. Celia's exhibition was opened by her friend Siobhan McKenna, Manager for Tearmann, Domestic Violence Services, Monaghan. Siobhan and Celia have worked together. Exhibition continues till mid July
